Dr. Muasher is an Infertility Specialist who is Board Certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is an Associate Professor of OB/GYN at Johns Hopkins University Medical School, a Clinical Professor of OB/GYN at George Washington University Medical School, and a Professor of OB/GYN at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Muasher opened the Muasher Center for Fertility and IVF in March of 2004 having previously served as Medical Director of the Jones Institute's Northern Virginia/DC Center and as Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
As an infertility specialist, Dr. Muasher held the positions of Director of the In Vitro Fertilization Program (1988 - 2000) and Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (1998 -2000) at the prestigious Jones Institute. He has over twenty-five years of clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility and is a world-renowned authority on in vitro fertilization.
While at the Jones Institute, Dr. Muasher participated in original breakthrough research that lead to improved IVF stimulation protocols, recognition of the importance of Day 3 hormonal evaluations, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, embryo cryopreservation, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, and numerous other advances.
Dr. Muasher completed his medical degree at the American University of Beirut in 1976 after which he entered the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at the world-renowned Greater Baltimore Medical Center and Johns Hopkins Hospital. During his residency and clinical fellowship, Dr. Muasher became acutely aware of the reproductive issues facing couples and decided to seek additional advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility.
Dr. Muasher entered the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship Training Program at the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine. Upon completion of the program in 1985, he was asked to remain as a member of the clinical staff. He trained many of the reproductive endocrinologists currently in practice throughout the United States and all over the world.
Dr. Muasher is a prolific infertility specialist and researcher having participated in 20 funded study grants. He is the primary or contributing author on 140 papers in peer-reviewed journals and over 140 abstracts. Additionally, he has contributed chapters to eight textbooks. He is a world-renowned speaker in the field of IVF having delivered more than 150 presentations to his peers. He is frequently invited to lecture all over the world.
He is an active member of six professional societies including the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technologies and the Society for Reproductive Endocriniology and Infertility. He has served on the editorial boards of several journals and currently serves on the editorial advisory board of Fertility and Sterility, the official journal of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. He also served as President of the Middle East Fertility Society (2003-2005). Dr. Muasher has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. Recently (2004), he was awarded the King Hussein Medal for Excellence in Scientific Achievements by hi Majesty King Abdallah of Jordan.
Dr. Muasher's decision to open the Muasher Center for Fertility and IVF was based upon his desire to deliver high quality reproductive care in a more personalized setting. Infertile couples face many stresses and he feels that open communication with, and access to, the entire staff enhances the treatment experience. He has been consistently listed as one of "The Best Doctors in America" for the past 20 years and was listed by the Washingtonian Magazine as one of the best doctors in infertility in the greater Washington DC area.
